Introduction:
One of the largest businesses in India and a Fortune “Global 500” company, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, is looking for candidates for apprenticeships at its refineries under the Apprentices Act, 1961/1973 (as amended) in the trade or discipline listed below as part of the country’s skill-building initiative.

Qualification criteria:
- The candidate should have already met the requirements by the time the eligibility criteria were calculated. Candidates are not eligible to apply if their qualifying exam results are still pending as of the eligibility criteria reckoning date.
- Holders of Class XII, Graduate, and Diploma degrees must have earned a minimum cumulative score of 50% (45% for applicants in the SC/ST and PwBD categories for the seats designated for them) from regular full-time courses in the relevant trade or discipline at an accredited Board, University, or Institute.
- Pass marks are required for eligibility to obtain an ITI qualification in the relevant trade. Only regular full-time ITI courses approved by SCVT or NCVET will be considered.
- Only the diploma, graduation, or ITI in the branch or subjects listed under the corresponding trade or discipline above will be accepted as an appropriate qualification. ITIs, diplomas, and graduations in subjects other than those listed will not be taken into consideration.
- No one will be allowed to claim to have a qualification that is on par with one that is required.
- Candidates with a Diploma in Engineering in a relevant trade or discipline under a recognized lateral entry scheme (Class-XII (Sc.)/ITI admitted in the second year of the diploma course) will also be considered eligible, provided they achieve the necessary percentage of marks based on the total of all semesters in the diploma course.
- Candidates with a degree earned via correspondence, distance learning, or part-time study are ineligible.
- An applicant should not be undertaking Apprenticeship Training under the Apprentices Act or have previously completed Apprenticeship Training.
- Applicants who have completed training and/or gained work experience for a year or more following the completion of the qualification are not eligible to work as technician apprentices.
- Additionally, candidates who have earned the required qualification as of the date of reckoning eligibility requirements for five years, or any other time specified by the GoI, will not be eligible to be hired as Technician Apprentices.
- Candidates will have their applications summarily rejected if they apply for more than one trade or discipline.
Age Limit:
- As of May 31, 2025, candidates who are General or EWS must be at least 18 years old and no older than 24. According to government rules, the maximum age restriction for SC, ST, OBC (NCL), and PwBD applicants will be loosened.
- The only admissible document to prove age is a marksheet or certificate from the Board of Secondary Education attesting to completing the Matriculation (Class X) Examination.
Date of reckoning eligibility requirements:
The deadline for obtaining the necessary qualifications and fulfilling the age requirements is May 31, 2025.
Document verification:
- Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for document verification based on their merit list ranking and the number of seats available in their respective trades or disciplines. At the time of document verification, the following original documents and a self-attested copy must be provided.
- The relevant education board’s 10th pass or matriculation certificate serves as confirmation of birthdate.
- Class XII/Final ITI (Fitter) marksheets issued by NCVET or SCVT/Graduation/Diploma Certificate issued by the relevant Board/Authority; Semester-wise/year-wise ITI (Fitter) marksheets issued by NCVET or SCVT/Graduation/Diploma in Engineering, respectively.
- certificate from the relevant university or institute that converts CGPA, OGPA, or letter grade to a percentage of marks, if applicable.
- A certificate from the principal of the polytechnic, school, college, or institute where the candidate completed their Class XII/ITI (Fitter)/Graduation/Diploma program, if applicable, stating the date the results were published. A certificate attesting to the candidate’s good behavior and the fact that the course was finished regularly and full-time must also be provided by the principal of the polytechnic, school, college, or institute where the candidate completed their Class XII/ITI (Fitter)/Graduation/Diploma program.
- Certificates of OBC (NCL), SC/ST/Disability, EWS (Income & Asset), and “DECLARATION for ECONOMICALLY WEAKER SECTIONS Candidates.”
General Instructions:
Before submitting an online application, candidates are encouraged to thoroughly read the whole advertisement for information on educational requirements and other qualifying requirements. Additionally, they have to make sure that their NATS/NAPS portal profile is 100% accurate.
Online registration of the apprenticeship agreement with the appropriate authorities is required.
If it is discovered throughout the selection process that the applicant provided inaccurate or misleading information, their candidacy will be withdrawn. The candidate also puts themselves at risk of criminal prosecution.
The local court located in the refinery unit where the candidate applied for an apprenticeship will have jurisdiction over any disputes that may arise.
