Introduction:
In addition to widows of Indian Armed Forces defense personnel who died in action, applications are being accepted from eligible unmarried male and female engineering graduates for the Indian Army’s Short Service Commission (SSC). The course will start at the Pre-Commissioning Training Academy (PCTA) in October 2025.
Educational Qualification for Applying:
Candidates who have finished the necessary engineering degree courses or who are in their last year of an engineering program are eligible to apply.
Candidates in their final year of study must be able to produce proof of passing the Engineering Degree Examination along with marksheets from all semesters and years by October 1, 2025, and the Engineering Degree Certificate must be produced within 12 weeks of the Pre-Commissioning Training Academy (PCTA) training beginning.
To recoup the cost of training at the Pre-Commissioning Training Academy (PCTA), as informed on a regular basis, as well as stipend and salary, and allowances paid, such candidates who lack the necessary degree certificate will be inducted on an Additional Bond Basis.
Vacancies:
Candidates should be aware that only Engineering streams and their suitable equivalents, as listed in the table below, will be accepted.
Applicants cannot apply if they have degrees in any other engineering stream. Any discrepancy between the nomenclature of Engineering streams as shown on the degree parchment / marksheet and that entered by the candidate in his/her online application will result in the termination of candidature.
Selection Procedure:
The cumulative percentage of marks earned up to the final semester or year of the degree program must also be greater than the authorized cutoff percentage following the announcement of the final results; if it is not, the candidacy will be canceled.
Subject to fulfilling all qualifying requirements, candidates who have been recommended by the SSB and deemed medically fit will get a joining letter for training in order of merit, contingent on the number of available positions.
The Medical Board’s proceedings are private and will not be disclosed to anybody. The Competent Medical Authorities’ recommended approach shall be closely followed, and the Directorate General of Recruiting has no involvement in any medical boards.
From the start of the course or the date of reporting to the Pre-Commissioning Training Academy (PCTA), whichever comes first, chosen candidates will be granted Short Service Commission on probation in the rank of Lieutenant.
During the training period, they will also be eligible for all the pay and benefits that a lieutenant is entitled to. After the course is completed, pay and benefits will be given.
Cost of Training:
The government pays for all of the training at PCTA. If the Lady/Gendered Cadet is removed from the training academy for any reason other than medical or uncontrollable, they will be responsible for reimbursement of the training cost at ₹16260/-per week (effective 2023) and as periodically notified (for the period of candidate’s stay at the Officers Training Academy/CadetTraining Wing).
The state covers the cost of training, which is recouped from applicants who withdraw for private reasons.
By current policy, the final distribution of arms and services will be decided by the Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Army) before Lady/Gentlemen cadets leave PCTA.
When it comes to the ultimate decision about the distribution of any weapons or services in the organization’s best interests, the applicant will not disagree. On this account, no representation is acceptable.
The seniority of SSC officers will be reduced by the amount of time that separates the training period of the SSC course under consideration from the training period of its equivalent PC course to account for the shorter training term of SSC officers compared to PC officers. When the first substantive rank of Captain is granted, this seniority adjustment will take place.
Note:
After the application is closed, no modifications can be made to the information provided in the online application. No representation will be taken into consideration in this regard.
When filling out the online application for “Marks acquired in Graduation,” CGPA and grades must be converted into marks using the formulas that the relevant university has established. Any disparity found throughout the selection process will result in the candidate’s candidacy being canceled.
Candidates must bring a self-attested copy of each of the following documents to the Selection Center, along with their original copies.
One copy of the application printout, properly signed and attached with a self-attested photo.
The concerned Board of Education issues the matriculation/secondary school examination certificate, or an equivalent certificate, and mark sheet.
