The government of Tamil Nadu acknowledges the importance of actively including young people in the numerous projects that are being presented for activities related to climate change adaptation and mitigation.
The United Nations Joint Framework effort on children, youth, and climate change states that young people are essential to the fight against climate change.
The goal of the Tamil Nadu government is to attain the highest standards of good governance in every area. The Tamil Nadu government has launched a two-year “Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Green Fellowship Programme (CMGFP)” as part of this program.
In order to improve the governance procedures and the service delivery of different programs and policies in Tamil Nadu, it seeks to capitalize on the enthusiasm and skills of young professionals.
Given this, the Tamil Nadu government has made the decision to adopt proactive measures to encourage young people to support and actively participate in the state’s climate change activities.
Supporting the District Administration on any matter that falls under the jurisdiction of the DoE&CC of the Tamil Nadu government would be the Green Fellow’s responsibility.
DoE&CC is the Nodal Agency for the planning, coordination, supervision, and tracking of all aspects of the CMGFP, while the Institute for Energy Studies (IES), situated at Anna University in Chennai, is the implementation’s knowledge partner.
A total of 38 Green Fellows:
- establishment and submission of a body of knowledge on environmental topics at the district level.
- An increase in the involvement and engagement of citizens in all policy activities.
- The district administration’s ability to respond to environmental issues more quickly
- enhanced the utilization of technology for environmental service delivery and reporting.
Four Mission mode projects:
- Not participating in the program on the designated date
- Unauthorized leave absence for longer than two days in a row
- The individual provided incorrect information that disqualified them from CMGFP or any other fraudulent action.
- Misconduct or lack of discipline
- For two consecutive review periods, the performance evaluation is less than 50%. If the contract is terminated early, the Green Fellows must give two months’ notice; otherwise, the Fellow or Associate will be responsible for returning one month’s compensation.
Selection:
purely based on merit, implementing the current Tamil Nadu academic institutions’ reservation policy.
Interview shortlisting will be determined by the candidate’s (among all applicants) ranking according to the eligibility requirements set forth by the government in the stated G.O.
The offline interview process will take place at Chennai’s Anna University.
A group of experts led by DoE&CC will evaluate the candidate based on several pertinent criteria.
The interview will be videotaped in its entirety.
Eligibility Criteria & Renumeration:
The candidates ought to be Indian citizens.
It is required that candidates have oral, written, and spoken knowledge of both Tamil and English; those who do not will not be considered for selection.
Desirable Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills in Tamil and English, both in writing and speaking.
demonstrated leadership abilities, writing, and public speaking in the workplace, college, or school.
abilities in data analysis and visualization.
